Recruitment Information

 

Departments and administrative units must conduct a search for all all faculty and non-classified positions unless the appointed position is for a year or less.

 Non-Classified/ Faculty Recruitment Process

This process to ensure that the University complies with regulations from a number of federal agencies. Before a position can be advertised it must be authorized  by the appropriate department head, dean and/or vice chancellor.  Authorization includes approval of the budgetary requirements by a department’s chain of command and approval of the recruitment plan by the Office of Affirmative Action.   As a general rule faculty and non-classified positions must be advertised for a minimum of thirty (30) days  before an applicant can be offered the position

 Recruting Period


As application packages are being received, remember to send a acknowledgement letter applicant information sheet and business reply envelope.

The business reply envelopes will be received in the packet of information from our office. If you need additional envelopes, call 575-4019.

**Phone Interviews may be conducted during this period**


 Pre-Interview Approval

The following information must be submitted to OFAA for approval prior to conducting on-campus interviews:

  •   Applicant Worksheet Excel -  Complete Columns "A" - "G" only
  •   Resumes of the candidates identified on Applicant Worksheet as  "3. Requesting approval to interview applicant"

Pre-Hire Approval


Before the the candidate chosen for the position is contacted, the following documents must be submitted to OFAA for approval:

  • Recruitment Summary Form
  • A brief summary of all interviews conducted with applicants.
  • A draft copy of the offer letter. (See Sample Letters)

 Sample Letters

  • Initial Acknowledgement Letter : Acknowledge receipt of the application within two to three days via a written letter or e-mail to the applicant
  • Delay Letter: If scheduling of interviews is delayed or varies from the Initial Applicant Acknowledgement Letter, follow-up with another letter
  • Not Interviewed, Not Hired: Notify applicants who will not be be interviewed as soon as you know they will not be considered as candidates for the position
  • Interviewed, but not Hired: Respect those applicants who are interviewed by contacting them in a timely manner if they are not going to be selected.
